Dain-Thlen Falls:
Dain-Thlen Falls is situated at Cherrapunjee in Meghalaya. It is a gentle and beautiful waterfall and is counted among the soft waterfalls. The water does not make a roaring noise here nor does it appear to be falling from a great height even.
The name of Dain-Thlen Falls is associated with mythological beliefs. According to legends there was a demon named Thlen. Thlen in Khasi means python. Thlen signified evil, greed and corruption. To get rid of the evil spirit the local people hunted Thlen from the depths of the deep rocky gap. Thlen was brought to the rock and was killed in Dain-Thlen Falls. A grand feast was prepared and Thlen’s flesh was consumed by the local people. Thlen later got rebirth from a part of the flesh and the world was again filled with the evil, according to the local belief. The waterfall is named after the demon. Deep scars could be seen on the rocks where the demon was killed. Axe marks could also be seen on the rocks.

The Kynrem waterfall is located 12 km from Cherrapunjee in East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya. The fall is situated inside the Thangkharang park. It is the 7th highest waterfall in India. It is a three tiered waterfall. Water falls from a height of 1,001 feet. Kynrem waterfall is one of the major attractions of Cherrapunjee.
The best view of the fall is from the Thangkharang park. The park offers a panoramic view of the sleep cliffs and the Kynrem falls. The falls could also be viewed from the bottom from the road that connects Cherrapunjee to the Bangladesh border. The fall is surrounded by breathtaking beauty. There are trees surrounding the falls. Nohkalikai Falls:
Nohkalikai Falls is situated near Cherrapunjee in Meghalaya. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in India. The fall leaps from a well forested drainage into a rocky base accompanied by blue pool. The height of the Nohkalikai fall is 1100 feet. The water falls in a single plunge over cretaceous-Paleogene sandstones and limestone. The upper part of the fall flow along nearly vertical cliff and some two thirds falls are free falling. There is a giant cave behind the fall.

According to legends when Ka Likai remarries, her new husband becomes jealous of her love for her daughter. The husband kills the daughter out of jealousy and cooks the flesh of the child. When the woman comes home after the day’s work she asks about the whereabouts of her daughter. She, however, does not get a positive answer from her husband. Before stepping out of the house she has some meal. As she goes towards the beetle nut basket she finds her daughter’s little finger in the basket. Heavily disturbed on knowing the death of her beloved daughter the woman runs out of the house and jumps off a cliff. The cliff from where she commits suicide hence came to be known as Nohkalikai Falls from where Ka Likai fell.

Nohsngithiang Falls:
Nohsngithiang Falls is situated 1 km south of Mawsmai village in East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya. It is also known as Seven Sisters waterfalls or Mawsmai falls as it is a seven segmented fall. This is the 4th highest waterfalls in India. The fall plunges over the top of limestone cliffs of the Khasi hills. The falls flow abundantly during the rainy season. The segments of the falls stretch most of the way along the cliff. The water falls from a height of 1,033 feet. It has an average width of 230 feet.
The waterfall gives an awe-inspiring view when it gets illuminated by the sun from dawn to dusk. The colours of the setting sun get highlighted on the waterfall that gives the falls an enchanting beauty. The presence of several stands of cascade water coming down in parallel during is site worth watching. The surrounding valleys of the falls are incomparable in beauty.
